The Platform for African European Partnership on Agricultural Research for Development (PAEPARD) is an eight year project sponsored by European Commission (80%) and partner own contributions (20%). It is coordinated by FARA who signed the contract agreement as the beneficiary with the EC on the 16th December, 2009 initially for three years before an extension of one year and another for four years. It aims at building joint African-European multi-stakeholder partnerships in agricultural research for development (ARD) contributing to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The ultimate objective is to establish a framework of a permanent dialogue between researchers and research-users that will lead ARD agenda in different sub-regional organizations (SROs).
Concurrently to the ULP, PAEPARD is implementing activities regarding the Competitive Research Fund (CRF) and Incentive Fund (IF) to support the nineteen consortia created through the two calls launched by PAEPARD II in 2010 and 2011. PAEPARD II has funded four best proposals under the CRF fund.
As part of the activities of the PAEPARD II, CRF PAEPARD called for a planning and evaluation meeting by all CRF partners. During the meeting, partners reviewed the year one activities and discussed the framework of the M&E and the first year financial and technical reporting. This time, financial officers (as they are the ones who do the financial report) were actively involved in the meeting. In addition, the planning meeting of the CRF had a field visit to one of the four projects in Benin. This is a beginning of a rotational field trip for the four projects which is a test of the PAEPARD multi stakeholder partnership.
