The Food Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) Tanzania node hosted by the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) will convene a Multi-Stakeholder Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) National Policy Dialogue in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on the 29 March 2016.

FANRPAN as a member of the Global Alliance on Climate Smart Agriculture (GACSA) is conducting CSA case studies in Tanzania and Malawi under a broader project on "Perspectives on Climate-Smart Agriculture from Across the Globe: Climate-smart Case Studies". The purpose of the case studies is to analyze gaps in the existing CSA policy frameworks and to identify relevant policy options.

Over 50 stakeholders who include senior officials of national governments, donor organizations, farmers' organizations, agri-business, development partner agencies and civil society organisations will share perspectives and experiences on CSA in Tanzania.

Expected Outcomes:

  1. Improved understanding of the role of CSA in adaptation to and mitigation of climate risks
  2. Policy recommendations on CSA from the stakeholders
  3. Comments and recommendations for inclusion in the CSA case study report and Policy Brief
  4. Preparation of Policy Dialogue conclusions to isolate policy recommendations for further research, communication, and advocacy work
  5. Policy Dialogue report and proceedings
