DIRECTORATE OF RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
POSTGRADUATE OFFICER (P8) (Ref: B424)
Duties: The Postgraduate Officer will manage the day-to-day administration of postgraduate activities; Assist with the coordination,
monitoring and promotion of the quality of postgraduate studies and to ensure consistency in the application of postgraduate rules across the
schools; Compile and prepare University Higher degrees Committee minutes and agenda; Serve as secretariat of the higher Degrees
Committee. He/she will liaise with the Post graduate Committee of the SRC on matters related to postgraduate studies. The postgraduate
officer will also undertake any other duties assigned by the line manager.
Requirements: A relevant degree with at least four years' relevant working experience in a research office preferably of a Research
Institution, or a University. Good understanding of the objective of Postgraduate Studies within the University. Good interpersonal and
communication skills, financial processing, knowledge of standard office procedures; good public relations; data management; stakeholder
management and above average computer skills (MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel).
RESEARCH COORDINATOR (P7) (Ref: B425)
Duties: To coordinate, administer and monitor externally funded projects in the directorate of Research and Innovation. The Research
Coordinator will be expected to manage Univen Research outputs, by liaising with academics and active researchers; sending out calls for
submission of research outputs, updating list of accredited journals and compiling Univen research outputs (RO) for submission to DHET.
He/she will also be expected to manage Research Information Management System (RIMS). The Research coordinator will also be expected
to coordinate workshops, seminars and colloquia to assist researchers with specific calls of strategic importance to UNIVEN. He/she will
also be expected to work with all National Research Councils and international funding agencies on Univen Research activities. He/she will
source out funding opportunities for academics, active researchers and students, monitor and evaluate funded research projects, and
coordinate the Intellectual Property & NIPMO, WIPO requirements/IPR ACT.
Requirements: A relevant Master's degree with at least five years' relevant working experience in a research office preferably of a Research
Institution or University. Interpersonal and Communication, Financial processing, Data management and Programme management. Ability
to use computers and computer systems including MSWord, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, ITS, Knowledge of the NRF Online
submission system and knowledge of international funding system. Knowledge of standard office procedures and good public relations.
