FANRPAN to Participate In the First-Ever Feed the Future Global Forum
19 May 2014

FANRPAN CEO, Dr Lindiwe Majele Sibanda will join global leaders in the first-ever Feed the Future Global Forum to highlight where USAID's Feed the Future programme has been, what it has achieved (and learned along the way), and how it plans to accelerate progress.

In 2009, US President Barak Obama mobilized the world to renew its commitment to fighting hunger through agricultural development. Since then, Feed the Future has stood with farmers around the world, helping them access the tools, knowledge and resources they need to grow their way out of poverty, hunger and poor nutrition.

On May 19-21, global leaders from the public and private sectors who are driving Feed the Future's implementation will gather in the Washington, DC to:

  • Highlight results that can be scaled for even greater impact
  • Identify opportunities for stronger collaboration among partners
  • Accelerate progress toward our goals of reducing global poverty, hunger and undernutrition

Dr Sibanda will be participating in a Panel of New Partners: Demonstrating Commitment to New Models of Development on the 19th of May 2014. She will be speaking alongside Jacobo Paz, Honduras Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Strive Masiyiwa, Chairman & Founder of Econet Wireless and Board Chair of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa and Gebisa Ejeta, Distinguished Professor of Plant Breeding & Genetics & International Agriculture, Purdue University.

Panels throughout the event will highlight topics such as partnerships, women, climate-smart development, nutrition, scaling, and youth involvement.
