AU-IBAR launches Livestock for Livelihood Project in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; 16 July 2010 - The African Union Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) launched the Livestock for Livelihood Project (L4LP) at a workshop conducted in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on 5 and 6 July 2010. The workshop discussed validation of baseline study reports, sharing of responsibility during the project implementation and development a year one project costed work plan for the two hotspots of West Africa (Complex WAP and Niokolo-Badiar).
The workshop was attended by 25 experts drawn from governments of Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinée, Mali, Niger and Sénégal. Also in attendance were regional consultants with expertise in natural resources management, International NGO's working in conservation and natural resources (International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and Vétérinaires sans Frontières Belgique (VSF-Belgique). During the workshop, participants shared experiences on implementation mechanisms of natural resources related projects - these have served improving the design and operation within the L4LP.
L4LP is an African Union Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) project funded by the European Union (EU).
