SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

11th African Crop Science Society Conference Theme: Sowing innovation for sustainable African crops production to meet food security under climate change. 14 - 17 October 2013, Entebbe Uganda

Change of Conference Location

The African Crop Science Society (ACSS) council and the 11th ACSS Conference Organizing Committee would like to inform all society members, participants and sponsors that the 11th ACSS Conference will not be held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, as previously announced. The Conference will now be held in the city of Entebbe, Uganda, which will be hosting the ACSS conference for the third time since 1993.

Date of the Conference

The conference opens on October 14th, 2013, and the closes on October 17th, 2013. Participants are encouraged to check into their places of accommodation by October 13th and check out by the 18th at 10 am.

Conference Venue

The conference will take place at the Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel in Entebbe, Uganda. The hotel will hold a special rate for single occupants of $62, B&B included.

Local Organizing Committee

The Local Organizing Committee is chaired by Prof. Patrick Rubaihayo from Makerere University, an ordinary member of the ACSS council. Farmers’ Forum

A farmers’ and value addition innovators session is part of the program to enable knowledge and technology end-users to provide feed-back on various scientific sessions so as to contribute to repositioning research for development in Africa

Abstracts and Papers

The deadlines for submission and receipt of abstracts and papers are August 31st and September 15th, 2013, respectively. The abstracts shall be sent to: prubaihayo@gmail.com it’s urged that all material be sent as soon as possible and on time as to avoid any organizational issues.

Invitation to Exhibit

Your organization is invited to exhibit at the 11th African Crop Science Conference to be held from 14th to 17th October 2013, in Entebbe, Uganda. Exhibiting at the conference will offer you an opportunity to share information, products and/or services with more than 400 crop scientists from all over Africa that are anticipated to attend the conference. Conference participants will have an opportunity to share your views and information regarding your company's products and services and their value to assist crop science and technology development and adoption by African farmers.

The Conference will emphasize the role of crop science research on providing for new and improved livelihood opportunities for farmers in Africa, which will impact on their income generation and food security. This event will facilitate a learning, dynamic and interactive environment. Opportunities will be created to interact and learn from each other and to open and broaden our horizons.

To Register

The Exhibitor registration form needs to be completed on-line (www.acss.mak.ac.ug) or returned by email (acss@caes.mak.ac.ug) in order to reserve a booth. We will then assign a booth number and send an exhibitor contract. Space is limited, so please return your exhibit registration form and fee by August 31, 2013.

We welcome you to the 11th ACSS Conference. We expect more than 400 participants from all over Africa and we hope that you will enjoy the exciting scientific presentations and discussions. We are looking forward to seeing you again in Entebbe.
