Winner of the FANRPAN 2011 Movers and Shakers Civil Society Award, Celebrates World Food Day with Farmers from around the World in Des Moines

Swaziland seed grower Mrs Happy Shongwe winner of the FANRPAN 2011 Movers and Shakers Civil Society Award joined 20 farmers from across the world at the Opening Session of the Global Roundtable titled " As a farmer, what tools do you need to maximize the productivity and profitability of your farm the next 5 10 years?". The session facilitated by Dr. Nicholas Kalaitzandonakes, University of Missouri, and Professor of Agribusiness organized by Truth About Trade & Technology on the sidelines of the World Food Prize.

Noted as one of the most significant observances of World Food Day, anywhere around the globe, the World Food Prize/2012 Borlaug Dialogue and Global Farmer Roundtable is taking place in Des Moines, Iowa, USA from October 16 - 19, 2012. The 2012 Borlaug Dialogue highlights the role of partnerships and their importance in confronting hunger challenges by driving forward cutting edge research and application at the intersection of science, education and enterprise.

Mrs Shongwe was selected from a pool of many qualified farmers from around the world to participate in the Global Farmer Roundtable International Symposium. This year's participants are from Canada, Honduras, India, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, Swaziland, United Kingdom, Uruguay, US, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
