The 4th Annual FANRPAN Partners Meeting, held on 31 May 2012 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria saw FANRPAN celebrating Africa Day and its Africa- wide mandate. This follows a resolution by the 2011 FANRPAN Annual General Meeting to amend the constitution, and draw membership of the Network from across the entire African continent.

From the original 8 member states when FANRPAN was established, currently FANRPAN works in 16 countries in East and Southern Africa, namely Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The Chairman of FANRPAN Board of Governors, Hon. Sindiso Ngwenya officially launched the Africa-wide mandate during the meeting. The meeting was attended by the FANRPAN Board of Governors, 78 representatives of the Network's development partners, and the FANRPAN Regional Secretariat staff. In his address to the meeting, Hon. Ngwenya stated that 'the call for FANRPAN to go Africa-wide was made not by Ministers of Agriculture, but by farmers from Burkina Faso who paid their way to make the submission at the 2010 FANRPAN Regional Policy Dialogue and AGM held in Namibia.' This was a proud moment for FANRPAN to see farmers calling for evidence-based policies to ensure food security. The Chairman pointed out that FANRPAN is ready to take up the challenge, and pull the continent out of poverty. 'It is time for Africa, it is time for FANRPAN', he said.
