FANRPAN's Former Board Chairman; Professor Haidari K R Amani visited FANRPAN Secretariat Office on 11 April 2012 while on a business visit to South Africa.
Professor Amani was the Chairman of the FANRPAN Board of Governors during the period 2004 to 2007.
Major achievements during his tenure include:
FANRPAN Regional Secretariat accreditation by the Government of the Republic of South Africa in 2005
Development of FANRPAN Constitution and Strategic Plan in 2007
Professor Amani spent some time getting to know the staff members at Regional Secretariat and the work they do. He was particularly interested in FANRPAN's monitoring and evaluation, as he sees this as an important aspect of the organisation as it grows and seeks to be effective and relevant. Professor Amani appreciated the work FANRPAN has been doing since inception, the brand it has built, and the fact that its membership has since doubled to the current 16 member states.
Professor Amani, from Tanzania has extensive experience in policy research, particularly in areas related to agriculture and rural development. He has co-authored three books and published a substantial number of papers covering agricultural and food security policy issues.
