The Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT) is an innovative, multi-stakeholder partnership between government, business, farmers and donor partners to develop profitable agri-business through the Corridor region. Success through SAGCOT will bring greater food security, alleviate poverty, engage smallholders in the agriculture value chain and further environmentally sustainable agriculture. Launched at the World Economic Forum Africa in 2010, SAGCOT has strong support of the Government of Tanzania, as well as partners from the private sector and donor community. The SAGCOT Centre has been established to coordinate, support and facilitate activities under SAGCOT, and a catalytic fund is being developed to generate funds to invest in the Corridor's opportunities. SAGCOT has stronger linkages with the Tanzania Investment Centre and regional and district business councils.
