The HaSSP Manager with support from Dr Isiah Mharapara, the coordinator of FANRPAN'snode hosting institution in Zimbabwe, Agricultural Research Council (ARC), convened a HaSSP Steering Committee meeting at the ARC offices in Harare on the 13th of July 2011. The purpose of the meeting was to review progress that has been made in the implementation of the HaSSP project in Zimbabwe and chart the way forward for the period August to December 2011. The meeting was informed that farmers who produced groundnut and sugar bean seed in Zaka were ready to harvest and that seed processing equipment for use by the farmers had been procured. The meeting also discussed the interface between FANRPAN's HaSSP and GRM's Seeds and Markets project (SAMP) to avoid duplication and maximise synergies.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Mechanisation, Seed Services Institute, Cluster Agricultural Development Services (CADS), GRM International, and HaSSP Seed Elders Dr Liberty Mhlanga and Dr Sam Muchena. Participants were informed about HaSSP forthcoming calendar activities including the Seed Certification Meeting scheduled for 17 -19 August 2011 in South Africa and the HaSSP Monitoring and Evaluation Workshop which will be conducted during FANRPAN's Regional Dialogue in Mbabane Swaziland from 22 to 23 September 2011.
