13 February 2009
University of Venda

The Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the University of Venda, South Africa on the 13th of February 2009. The collaborative agreement was signed at the University of Venda by FANRPAN CEO, Dr Lindiwe Majele Sibanda and the University of Venda Vice Chancellor and Principal, Dr Peter Mbati. This agreement marks an important milestone in the FANRPAN Household Assets Vulnerability Assessment (HAVA), previously Househould Vulnerability Index (HVI), work.

In May 2008 FANRPAN and World Vision entered into a partnership to explore the feasibility of using the HAVA to improve the quality of programming and targeting of World Vision's development and relief programmes in three countries, i.e., Lesotho, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. The University of Venda will facilitate the supervision of action research on the FANRPAN HAVA project in the study sites.

The signing of the MoA was witnessed by Dr J J Zaaiman; Deputy Vice Chancellor Operations; Prof. Rel ole-Meiludie, Dean School of Agriculture, Rural Development and Forestry; Dr V O Netshandama, Director Community Engagement; Dr T Dzaga, Director Public Relations and Promotion and Prof. J Francis, Director Centre for Rural Development.
