The Agricultural Consultative Forum (ACF) is a public/private sector stakeholder driven consultative forum established to promote dialogue and foster partnership in Zambia’s agricultural sector. The main purpose of the Forum is thus to spearhead policies that accelerate economic growth by ensuring that development of agricultural policies and initiatives by the
Zambian government are done in an environment of mutual consultations with various stakeholders.
In order to achieve its objective the Forum undertakes (i) facilitation of stakeholder consultation
and policy dialogue; (ii) provision of advisory services to stakeholders; (iii) facilitation of stakeholder networking and information sharing and (iv) provision of independent monitoring of government development programmes.
In October 2005, the ACF entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Food Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) to host the Zambia FANRPAN Node. The ACF will thus coordinate and promote policy research and dialogue for the sustainable development of the food, agriculture and natural resources sector in the
country. This partnership is thus in line with objectives of the forum.
This Report is thus a record of the key developments in the agricultural sector in the areas of
policy research, analysis and dialogue during the last quarter of 2005.
