FANRPAN 2009 High Level Regional Policy Dialogue: The True Contribution of Agriculture to Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction in Southern African countries

FANRPAN will be hosting its Regional Stakeholders Policy Dialogue from the 31st of August to the 4th of September 2009, in Maputo, Mozambique.

The theme for this year's dialogue is "True Contribution of Agriculture to Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction in Southern African countries".

Objective of the FANRPAN 2009 High Level Regional Policy Dialogue:
To create an evidence-based awareness among stakeholders of the potential contribution of agriculture to the economies of southern African countries

What is the event?
The 2009 stakeholders' conference is a direct follow up to the 2008 FANRPAN conference held in Lilongwe, Malawi (Theme: Regional Strategies for Addressing the Global Food Crisis). The 2009 conference will bring together researched case studies from different countries on the "true contribution of agriculture to economic growth and poverty in southern Africa" - based on the various forward and backward linkages.

Who will participate?
Participants will include Permanent Secretaries of Ministries of Agriculture, Trade and Commerce, representatives of regional organizations, including SADC and COMESA, FANRPAN Board and Secretariat members, funding partners and representatives from country nodes who include, farmer organizations, agri-business, development partner agencies, media and parliamentarians.
